You’ll play a key role in delivering high-performance engineering solutions that drive innovation in railway vehicle systems. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (Train Control, Schematics, Production Line, Procurement, Quality), define system requirements, ensure compliance with industry standards, and much more.”
We’ll look to you for:
- Technically leading the entire system design lifecycle, from conceptual solution to the serial production phase ,
- Ensuring system design compliance with applicable standards for safety, reliability, and maintainability ,
- Reporting project progress and supporting the Train System Engineer with design optimization and risk mitigation ,
- Providing systems engineering input into fleet modifications, including preparation of engineering effort estimates, risk assessments, and modification documentation ,
- Contributing to Asset Life Management (ALM) projects by developing engineering concepts, liaising with key suppliers, and ensuring compliance with Alstom’s configuration management processes ,
- Supporting obsolescence issues by assessing fit, form, and function, and preparing necessary engineering documentation ,
- Investigating and resolving safety issues through root cause analysis and developing fleet modifications where required ,
- Resolving reliability issues by providing engineering knowledge for investigation, containment, and root cause analysis ,
- Collaborating with Train Control and Schematics engineers to ensure proper integration of electrical functions and system interfaces ,
- Developing system verification plans and supporting train-level validation to ensure system requirements are met and functional.”

Degree in Railway Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, Automation Engineering, or Electrical and Mechanical Engineering ,
Experience or understanding of railway vehicle systems engineering or heavy industrial vehicle development ,
Knowledge of railway subsystems, such as Brakes, HVAC, Propulsion, ATC, Doors, or Couplers ,
Familiarity with systems integration and vehicle design and development ,
